The Rhayader Merida 100k

Raymond and Paul rode the 100k event yesterday. Although there was no rain on the day it had rained on most days of the previous week ,so it was a bit of a slog on the heavy ground.Getting a start in the first 100 competitors is the secret to a good placing in these races because, first there is no queueing in the singletrack and second the trails get muddier the more they are ridden.

Raymond 96k in around 6 hours, Paul in around 6.15.

They met weekend warrior Jon who has entered La Ruta:-o

This week's news

Marky completed the South Downs 100miles in a day yesterday. He took 14 hours in windy and wet conditions and managed to lose three chainring bolts.

Dom rode the national 10 time trial today and came in with a 23.23.

On a classic Sunday riders Sunday ride Paul's fork snapped and he dislocated his little finger. Raymond smoothly and confidently popped it back!

Last weekend Julie won her category in the Dyfi Enduro.

And Jim got married.

El Rey Ramon!

Today the Sunday Riders/Skidmarks worked together to beat the super strong Dom. We started by attacking one by one on the road to Pina, with AKM just taking the sprint from him. We all rode tempo up the Randa climb.Dom attacked at 1k to go,taking Facer. Dom faltered at 500m and Ramon attacked hard then joined by Jane they crossed the summit together. Later Ramon launched a superb attack on the Golfenburg climb opening a large gap, but was pulled back. Dom then countered and was away. FBS then bravely pulled the group up to Dom. Dom went for the stage win, but eased up and Ramon went around to take the stage. Ramon starts tomorrow wearing all 3 jerseys!

Mallorca

Once again the weather gods smile down upon the annual swrc/Blobby tour of Mallorca. After tales of rain and storms from nearby Ibiza. The riders are met with a beaming sun and cloudless blue skies.

Vuelta Southsea a Dorking

Distance:
day 1:113km in 04.05
day 2:114km in 04.10

Weather:
day 1:sunny,very strong headwind.
day 2:sunny spells,cooler slight! tailwind.

Terrain:
day 1:rolling with the killer climb at Bedham.
day 2:undulating on mucky D roads.

Highlight of the trip:sailing from Hayling Island to Southsea on the Ferry!

Riders:
Raymond: smooth, confident and wily: taking the sprint for the Dorking sign after sucking wheel for 110km!!
Jane: sole A group laydee
Mark: Becoming too strong for the B group, only the lure of extended lunch stops holds him back.

Mechanicals: jumping gears

Crashes: Sabin stalled and keeled over on the 'wall' near Newdigate.

Chance meetings: the B group for lunches?

Palabras del dia: I can smell the sea!

Idiot of the day: Raymond forgot his civvy shoes but got a snazzy pair of rock climbing booties from Millets, no one took jackets to fend off the chilly sea breeze.

Thanks to everyone involved for a great weekend, especially Geoff for his fantastic organisation and Patrick for being a human gps.
L3J

stop press....Mark is in imminent danger of being thrown out of the B group. He has attacked too many times and given the game away:-).... he is too fit!
