The Gary Roubaix

This year in honour of Gary Smith's 60th birthday, the SWRC asked ramon, juanita and roger to organise a ciclosportif. We decided on an 'on road - off road' ride as most of Gary's rides involve a bit of rough stuff. We have put together an 80km (50miles) ride around the Surrey lanes, taking in a few well surfaced bridleways on the way. The idea is that it's all doable on a road bike with standard 23mm tyres.

Unfortunately, we chose the 15th July and I've just realised this clashes with the twentyfour12.....damn!

Cross Training

This week we go to Wales to hike the mountains,as part of the steady build up for the three peaks cross.

Ramon, Juanita and Lco will attempt the Sugarloaf from the east face.

We're doing this one instead of Mountain Mayhem this year.

It's a new venue too.

Thetford........the race continues........

It looks like 1st and 2nd place may well be sewn up, but the fight is still on for 3rd and 5th places.

Ramon is two points off 3rd place and Paulo is holding on to 5th place by two points!

So, an exciting final round for the Skidmarks and Sundayriders.

Camp Ibiza

Camp Ibiza training camp will be desde 10th - 18th Marzo this year.

We will ride with coach Werner some days and hope to ride with Kandani on others.

The perfect food

I have discovered the perfect food for during racing!

Kendal mint cake 350 calories of pure sugar.

Very little chewing needed, it dissolves in the mouth, then straight to where you need it! Excellent stuff I used it for the last Thetford race.

Dry swoopy trails, no mud and sunshine - a typical Thetford day.

hold up of the day: On the start line I was about 5th row back when the the race started. Everyone moved forward and the five guys in front of me stopped at the start line and wouldn't move. They'd decided to get a good position for the 2hr race!!!! So, I had to go under the tape to get around them and looked up to see everyone disappearing around the first bend. By the time I'd got going I was way back in the field. ramon

This weekend is round two at Thetford.

ramon is lying 3rd in the vets' series and paulo is 6th.

ibiza training

ramon y juanita have just returned from some steady xmas km's in ibiza.

Werner had prepared a 'werner extreme' ride in readiness: a super hike-a-bike, boulder fest, singletrack trek.

ramon y juanita were invited on the local bike shop's new year's day ride.Kandani They were a bit like the swrc, friendly, getting on a bit, riding a bit and eating a lot. In the middle of nowhere, the group stopped at a small farm where a table had been laid full of Ibicenc new year food.
