Saturday and Sunday ride

Yesterday we decided on a longish mtb ride, Jane felt that she needed some km's in her legs for the Extrem. We set off towards the Downs Link go to Pulborough, but after Cripplegate we decided to go to Dial Post across country from where the Down's Link meets Partridge Green. It was a lovely hot day, about 25', and was the first time in shorts for me(in the UK) this year! On the way back we saw a slow worm in the woods!

A nice five and a half hours on the bike and 100+ km.

Today we were by ourselves - Paul has a lower body injury sustained in a handlebar/ soft tissue interface resulting from a crash in Italy. He has to take a week's rest. The Mighty D has a thumb injury, again sustained in a crash in Italy. I think we all left various tissues of some kind or other in the hills around Faenza :) It makes it difficult to get moving when there is no deadline of some one turning up to ride.

So, the sun was high when me and Jane left for a steady ride of some steeps and singletrack around Leith. On the way out we saw another slow worm, this time on the steep climb out of the vineyard. On the way back from the second time around Summer Lightning we saw a lizard! I haven't seen a lizard in the uk for ages.It was very dark brown compared to the Ibizincan lizards. The lovely weather brings everybody out :)

A nice two hours on the bike tackling very steep climbs and swoopy singletrack :)

We also saw a two-seater prop plane take off from the wellcross farm airstrip, close enough to reach out and touch!
I want one!
